Many people living in Manchester are already aware of just how expensive it has become to stay in the city over recent years.
Reacting to the story on social media, many people living in Manchester, or just outside of the city, told of just how unaffordable the city is becoming. One person commented: "Does this come as a surprise? Look at how much rents, energy and food costs have risen the span of three years. Combine this with general inflation and this is what you get."
With Londoners having an average income of £30,302 - and spending an average of £55.72 on essential items per day, their higher income means people in the city spend among the lowest proportion of their income on bills. "From people on low incomes who can't afford to heat their homes an feed their families, to people in the city struggling to with rapidly rising rents and service charges," she said.
