'We don't go to bed, there's no point. We just wait until the noise is over'
When Susan moved into her home in a peaceful corner of Prestwich 39 years ago, she thought the serenity would last forever.
Josie claims noise from the mansion keeps her awake at night, while another neighbour told the M.E.N it had affected her daughter's GCSE revision. Faced with claims that noise has reached 'unbearable' levels, the council and police have held meetings with the owners. Susan, speaking this week, says the house - which costs just shy of £1,200 per night - has transformed the area. She says she frequently lies awake listening to 'screaming' and loud music as guests party the night away. The reality of life next to Manchester's most expensive AirBnb is 'horrific', she says.
With a number of existing party bookings carrying over from the previous owners, they decided to honour those and temporarily keep renting it out, they claimed. "We carefully vet all potential guests, requesting identification and ensuring that our property is not used for parties or disruptive activities," they said. "We have encountered two instances where guests misrepresented themselves and caused damage to our property, which further reinforced the need for urgent screening.""I can't explain to you what the noise is like," Susan told the M.E.N. "You can't go in your garden.
Mr and Mrs Ali say 'due to the amount of complaints given by our neighbours, the authorities called us in to have a meeting to hear our side of the story'. Speaking of the most recent event, which ran from mid-August to this month, they added: "We were kind enough to inform our lovely neighbours of the wedding dates by sending flowers to all as a peace offering, just so that they are aware that there will be a wedding being held."
