The Chicago Bulls selected point guard Coby White with the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Now, the Bulls will look for a veteran point guard in free agency.

Beverley would fit the hard-nosed culture Jim Boylen is trying to create to a T. He's a rugged defender and a terrific 3-point shooter, making him a nice complement as a 3-and-D point guard next to Zach LaVine. He's not a natural playmaker and doesn't do much work off the dribble, but his strengths would help make the Bulls better.

Beverley is good, but that's a lot of money for a limited player who has had trouble staying healthy in his career. The Bulls may still consider paying up for a short-term deal, but there are also rumblings that Beverley is going to fetch a long-term contract: There are numerous other options besides Beverley. Chicago can even look in its own division, where the Indiana Pacers have a pair of veteran point guards set to hit the market in Darren Collison and Cory Joseph. Collison is shooting 39.4% on 3-pointers for his career and has shot over 40% in each of the last four seasons, while Joseph has championship experience from his time with the San Antonio Spurs.

Detroit Pistons point guard Ish Smith is yet another option within the division. Smith isn't much of a shooter, but he's a quick guard who can get into the paint off the dribble.
