Reverend Jennie Hardy turned her life around after being expelled from school
Jennie Hardy told the ECHO how her life was "difficult" growing up around the streets of Anfield and after her parents split up she became "a bit of a scally" and even got expelled from school.
"And when I called out to God I said 'God what do you want me to do?!" and I heard this voice inside my head, which wasn't mine, because at the time I was very depressed and my thoughts were just really negative and this voice just said 'go to college'.She said the two became great friends and would read the Bible together and she also began regularly attending Mossley Hill Parish Church, in 2009, which kickstarted her journey to God.
“I’m a charismatic evangelical, which means I like to have services which are free and I don't really use liturgy , that's my preferred style of leading a worship service. We still have Bible readings, you would pray and have every element of a Christian church service. It is a long process to be ordained, with three years of formal discernment - a process which involves being interviewed by various people who report back to the Bishop, then three years education, which Jennie did in the form of a graduate diploma as she already had an Undergraduate Degree, and three years on the job training."During my discernment I had to be in front of a panel of people with different expertise, not all of them are ordained.
Jennie's typical day on a Sunday, involves arriving at St Michaels around 8.30am and at 9am she holds a Holy Communion Service. She said after the service she stays and hosts tea and toast and chats to the congregation.
