When thunderstorms are forecast to hit Greater Manchester today as yellow weather warning in place
A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place today covering the whole of Greater Manchester. Thunder and lightning is set to hit the region later this afternoon, with torrential rain also expected.
According to the Met Office, thunderstorms will hit the region from 1pm and are likely to continue until 3pm. Temperatures will start to drop to around 20C.After 3pm there is set to be dry spells interrupted by showers before stormy conditions return again in the evening. From 6pm to 8pm, thunderstorms are forecast to return across the region.
In Manchester thunderstorms are forecast around 2pm before a dry spell after this. But, thunderstorms are set to return from 5pm for more than three hours. Tameside is forecast a storm for the early afternoon but is likely to only see showers into the evening. Whereas in Stockport thunderstorms are predicted for most of the early evening.
