UTSA’s Frank Harris, Rashad Wisdom shifting to teaching roles this spring to preserve health
Tightend Oscar Cardenas works on a drill as UTSA football holds its first spring practice on Monday, Mar. 6, 2023.As UTSA was lining up for one of the first 11-on-11 drills of spring practice Monday, safety Rashad Wisdom claimed a position deep in the secondary, more than 30 yards off the line of scrimmage.
With 44 games and more than 250 tackles under his belt, Wisdom said he’s having fun seeing the process from a coach’s perspective this spring, helping younger players with everything from their playbooks to academics. Returning receivers Zakhari Franklin and Joshua Cephus — both nursing knee injuries — followed the wideouts group from drill to drill as spectators. De’Corian Clark, another returning wideout recovering from an ACL tear suffered in early November, ran through some individual work off to the side of practice with a large brace on his right knee.
Wisdom said treatment of his torn labrum revealed he was missing about 30 percent of the bone in his shoulder.
