The touring cast of the Broadway play features Richard Thomas and Mary Badham, who played Scout in the 1962 film version of Harper Lee's novel.
As he sees it, the story has been timely from the moment Harper Lee's novel first hit book shelves in 1960.
As part of the tour, the company is promoting literacy efforts across the country. In San Antonio, they will be raising money for the Little Lending Library at the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum, which offers free books in which the main characters are people of color. Patrons will be able to make cash donations at the theater's bars.
Atticus, a character Lee based on her beloved father, was portrayed by Gregory Peck in the 1962 film adaptation of the book. Peck won his only Oscar for acting for his compassionate and authoritative performance.
