One college will charge a $750 fee to students who aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19 for the fall semester.
The first day of classes is Aug. 23. The fee will be charged if students don’t submit proof of vaccination by Sept. 7, according“The fee is going to be used to cover the expenses that will come with increased testing and other resources that the college will have to utilize and deploy to keep every student safe,” Dean James MooreThe college will also charge students who contract COVID-19 during the semester and can’t quarantine off campus $250.
About 90% of the college’s faculty and staff have been vaccinated, according to the guidance, and “a large percentage” of students have confirmed their vaccination status. West Virginia Wesleyan College isn’t requiring vaccination for the fall but “strongly encourages” students, faculty, and staff to get vaccinated. College officials will revisit the decision after the FDA fully approves a COVID-19
