Over the years we have seen shops come and go across Lincolnshire, as the face of our High Streets continue to change as time goes by – but which ones would readers love to see return in an ideal world?
It is businesses like those mentioned before that serve as the essence of High Street shopping and why it is held so dearly in the UK.As well as this we have recently seen century-old businesses fall by the wayside in Lincolnshire. Ruddocks of Lincoln closed after more than 160 years of business in 2017, and was replaced by arcade bar Carousel in 2021.
Praise for Debenhams was high indeed. Deborah Kelleher said she “always found what I wanted there” and Anne Robinson said she “really misses it”. Bailgate area of Lincoln is famed for its local independent businesses.
