The Republic and the Jedi were forced to ally with the Hutts at the beginning of the war to move clone troopers through the outer rim territories.
3 The Chiss As the larger galaxy was consumed by different wars throughout the decades, the Chiss Ascendancy kept to its own territory in the Unknown Regions. The level of mystery associated with the Unknown Regions, and the potential threats that it could hold, make the Chiss' exclusive knowledge of the Unknown Regions invaluable in Star Wars.
