BREAKING: Teenage girl, 16, who died following fatal collision in Oldham named as two men charged with causing death by dangerous driving
A teenage girl who died following a fatal collision in Oldham has been named. Alisha Goup, 16, from Royton, was pronounced dead after a collision with a car on Thursday afternoon, at around 1.30pm.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Rochdale Road, near to the Royal Oldham Hospital. Greater Manchester Police said two men have now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Omar Choudhury, 21, from Royton, and Hamidur Rahman, 23, from Oldham, are due to appear before magistrates on Monday.In a statement released this evening, GMP said: "Omar Choudhury of Royton and Hamidur Rahman of Oldham have both been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. They have been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester & Salford Magistrates Court on Monday 27 February 2023.
"These charges are a result of an investigation by GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit into a fatal road traffic collision on Rochdale Road in Oldham at around 1:30pm on Thursday 23 February 2023, where sadly a 16-year-old girl passed away from her injuries sustained at the scene. She has now been identified as Alisha Goup from Royton. Her family have asked for continued privacy whilst they grieve for their loss.
Rochdale Road was closed for a number of hours on Thursday, as officers and detectives carried out their investigations at the scene.
