The SHA is working on a digital health strategy, but says it has no timeline for when things like faxes will be phased out.
“I am pleased that they’re working on it,'” Ron Kruzeniski, provincial privacy commissioner, said Thursday. “I would love to see some timelines, but again because I acknowledge that it’s complex, I guess I have to accept that the timelines are going to be a little bit longer,” he added.The EHR viewer allows health-care providers access to patient information, regardless of where the patient accesses care, such as medication, lab results and hospital visits.
“As new sites began utilizing these systems, the health information then becomes part of the Electronic Health Record. Further, additional clinical documentation is continuously added to the EHR, allowing for continued expansion of these services,” Doug Dahl, SHA media relations manager, said in an email.
