Met Office forecast for Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Blackpool and Lancaster on Friday, October 20
Parts of Lancashire are set to be hit by torrential rain as Storm Babet sweeps across the UK over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in place throughout Friday covering central, eastern and southern parts of the county. It will remain in effect until 6am on Saturday. Eastern areas including Burnley, Colne, Nelson, Clitheroe, Accrington, Rossendale, Blackburn and Darwen are set to bear the brunt of the downpours with forecasters warning of potential flooding and travel disruption. Western areas including Blackpool, Lytham, Fleetwood, Lancaster and Morecambe will remain largely dry and cloudy on Friday with highs of 12C.
"25-50 mm is expected to fall quite widely, though some parts of the North York Moors and Lincolnshire Wolds could pick up 50-80 mm. Parts of north Wales, particularly Snowdonia, could also see in excess of 100 mm of rain through the period. Strong easterly winds may exacerbate the impacts brought about by the heavy rain.
