Lt. Beckett Mariner fights a Klingon on Star Trek: Lower Decks, and she uses one of Captain Kirk's most famous (and ridiculous) fight moves.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Lt. Beckett Mariner uses one of the signature fighting moves of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Lower Decks. In Lower Decks season 4, episode 9, "The Inner Fight," several different storylines introduced throughout the season finally come together.

When their supposedly boring mission goes wrong, Star Trek: Lower Decks' junior grade Lieutenants find themselves stranded on Sherbal V, an uninhabited planet in the middle of nowhere. They soon discover they are not alone on Sherbal V as Locarno deposited the crews of the ships he destroyed on the planet. Mariner takes it upon herself to single-handedly fight any enemies they find, and she soon finds herself in a brutal hand-to-hand battle with Klingon warrior Ma'ah .

Mariner appears to have more success with the double-fist punch in her fight with Ma'ah. When she lands a solid punch to his face, his pink blood sprays off to the side. Ma'ah rallies, though, slamming Mariner against a tree. Before their fight can continue, shards of glass start falling from the sky in an apparent glass rainstorm. Ma'ah and Mariner seek shelter in a nearby cave, with Ma'ah insisting they wait until the storm ends to continue their fight.

How Mariner Can Fight A Klingon & Survive Because she has been consistently sabotaging her own career, Mariner has been a Starfleet officer significantly longer than the other Lower Deckers. Throughout her various Starfleet postings, Mariner has gained considerable experience across many different fields, including hand-to-hand combat. She is a master of anbo-jyutsu, a type of martial arts, and has fought many different opponents over the years.

At some point, Mariner befriended and blood-bonded with the decorated Klingon General K'orin , who served in the Klingon Defense Force, and the two got involved in some "off-the-books grey ops stuff." Mariner also served on space station Deep Space 9 and fought in the Dominion War, gaining real combat experience. Because of her colorful and varied past, Mariner has developed strong fighting skills and knows how to go up against a bigger, stronger opponent.
