That will frustrate MPs on both sides of the House who believe that the cost of living crisis is so severe that Mr Sunak should use everything he has now to put cash into people's pockets. This means from July people will not have to pay National Insurance or income tax before earning £12,570. He adds that he will stick to his plan to reduce taxes by the end of this parliament but will do so in a way that is"responsible and sustainable".
