The Blues boss believes the arrival of Beto could allow Dominic Calvert-Lewin the opportunity to rediscover true fitness and form
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will benefit from no longer having the burden of a flailing Everton attack on his shoulders, Sean Dyche hopes.
Calvert-Lewin is now back to fitness but started on the bench for a second consecutive game with summer signing Beto leading the Everton attack instead. It was a breakthrough moment for the 26-year-old, whose last 18 months have seen his injury misfortune dovetail with Everton’s struggles on the pitch.
Speaking after the 3-1 win, Dyche described his own pleasure at watching Calvert-Lewin’s hard work over the summer pay off. He said: “Dom has worked ever so hard. He plays against Villa and gets a fracture - only a small one but a fracture all the same - so then he couldn’t play. The good news, though, was he could train at least to get fitter and sharper.”
