The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service pair were awarded for 'long and distinguished' services in their communities

Three Scots emergency responders have spoken of their joy at being awarded a King's Medal in the New Year Honours.

Wendy has been with the Ambulance Service for 35 years and is a trustee of the Benevolent Fund, a charity providing support for SAS staff members and their families. "SAS staff work under considerable pressure and go above and beyond in their duties to the Service. The Benevolent Fund provides additional support in times of personal hardship for its members. It is our duty as a Service to look out for the staff that are instrumental in sustaining it.”
