ROTATE Birger Christensen - CPHFW SS22 True to ROTATE’s DNA, each look stood out from the crowd and acted as its’ own centre of attention, bringing streetwear glam and bold confidence to the runway. But we felt the collection was too...disjointed:
Far out into the industrial outskirts of Copenhagen, the ROTATE S/S22 show took place at Tunnelfabrikken; an enormous hangar used for storing containers and airplanes.
On arrival the first thing we saw was a ROTATE Sunday x Hyperbae pop-up installation with goodie bags, teasing an upcoming collab between the two brands - we are super excited about this FYI! Models were poised inside vintage cars in the centre of the catwalk, classy, sexy and powerful. The models began to step out of their cars and strut their stuff. By the first outfit, we were love-struck – a shiny, mint-green dress and coat with heavy leather boots - and just like that, the collection’s mood was set; power-glamour and flirtatious. We loved the play with materials and textures, with outfits made out of everything from slick latex and lightweight, shimmering leather to the furry and fluffy.
Like in so many other collections this season, classic 90’s metallic draped pieces made an appearance. Inspired by the creative directors’ favourite 90’s style icon, Fran Fine from ‘The Nanny’her quirky styling, pop colours and shiny fabrics were combined with cutouts, minidresses, quilting and crocheting for a true era tribute.
