“I don’t want my kids to take this the wrong way, but if my kids did what these kids did, I wouldn’t want to be related to them,” Robert De Niro said of Trump's children.
“I don’t want my kids to take this the wrong way, but if my kids did what these kids did, I wouldn’t want to be related to them,” De Niro said on the show, though he didn’t elaborate on what he sees as their wrongdoing. “I would disown them. I'd have a serious talk with them.”
De Niro added that"no matter what happens," that"we have to go through the motions" of the impeachment inquiry and"take our chances." "It's a taint on his presidency, more than a taint, it's a a stain, one that he deeply deserves," he continued."He has to take that punishment. He has to pay the consequences… He did something wrong, he has to pay for it, period."
When asked if Trump is worse than some of the past characters he's played , De Niro said,"to me he is." He explained further: "He has no idea of what his purpose in life as the president should be, and that is to pull the country together, to be for the people, to heal wounds, not to open them up and pour salt on them. He's a low-life.""We're at a crossroads, as we all know… This guy has got to be taken seriously, and he's got to be taken out of office… We want the American people, of course, to vote him out.
