He's becoming a familiar face in Hornets matches this season watfordfc
It is not even halfway through the season but David Webb is set to take charge of a Championship fixture involving Watford for a third time when the Hornets play their final game before the World Cup break at Bristol City on Saturday.
The Lancashire official’s two previous matches involving Watford in the 2022/23 campaign have also been away – the dismal 3-0 defeat at Millwall last month and the 1-1 draw against Birmingham City in August. Webb has officiated 16 matches so far this season, 13 of which have been in the Championship, and shown a total of 48 yellow cards and four reds – those all coming in Sheffield United’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Blackpool in October.
Matthew Jones and Sam Lewis are due to be the assistant referees at Ashton Gate this weekend, with John Busby the fourth official.
