The Belgian admits he's 'never seen a puzzle like it' when faced with Rangers mounting injury issues.
Rangers players wanted to do more in training under Philippe Clement's predecessors as the Belgian looks to resolve a brewing Ibrox "puzzle".
The new man in the Glasgow hot-seat admits injuries, of which Rangers have a list as long as his arm, are the source of great frustration for the 49-year-old as he looks to re-write the script on training at Auchenhowie. The Light Blues have seen setbacks galore under the reigns of Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, and more predominantly Michael Beale, with many players on the treatment table and the likes of Kemar Roofe, Tom Lawrence and John Souttar being among some of the more luckless stars.
Clement wants a resolution to the problem that's been brewing well before the Belgian's arrival, and admits he is "puzzled" by the situation he faces in Govan. Yet former Rangers man Craig Moore, who agrees with the new boss on the crocked riddle, reckons it was an issue that permeated the squad under Van Bronckhorst and Beale. He believes there was 'some noise' that players wanted to do even more in training, something Clement has put high on his priority list.
Moore told Go Radio: "Too long and for too long in my opinion . Even under Giovanni and followed up with Beale, the way Rangers played under those two previous managers was very patient and there has been noise previously noise coming out that the players wanted to do more in training. I think physically, they can be much, much better. Clement has come out quite strong on that.
"It's important players are robust in terms of making sure they can meet the demands, week in and week out. Actually every three days because games are that frequent. A lot of work to be done there, you need a fit squad, everyone at the table when you want to go and try to win trophies."
