HILLIARD, Ohio — A church in a suburb of Columbus is under investigation after police say they have received reports that children, all under the age of 10, were sexually assaulted there several years ago.
A news release from Hilliard police says the reported assaults occurred between 2012 and 2014 at what was then called the Open Gate Church of God. The church is now called the New Beginnings Church of God and is under new leadership. Police say current staff members are not being investigated. Police say the incidents involved “multiple” female victims and a male youth member of the church who previously assisted in the children’s and teen rooms. No charges have been filed.
