Your furry friend will still need exercise during the freezing weather, so here's how to do it safely
Although it's March and spring is firmly on the horizon, the UK has been hit with a bout of freezing weather this week, and it is set to bring disruption for many. We all know that it's essential to wrap up warm when you're going outside - but what about our pets?
Dr Karlien Heyrman, Head of Pets at Pets at Home, has shared her simple steps you can take to ensure your dog can still get out in the snow and ice, but remain as safe as possible Adapt your walk for the conditions During the winter months, it’s likely that you’ll be walking your dog in the dark. It’s important to make allowances for this, for example using a reflective or flashing collar. This will ensure that your pet is visible to cars and that you can keep a close eye if they’re off the lead.
Remember that although they might look cute, some dogs won’t appreciate a coat even on the coldest of days, so only put them in clothing if they are happy to wear it and always make sure they are comfortable before you set off.
