SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Josiah Porter’s two-out, first-inning grand slam created a hole that Pearland could not climb out of Thursday night as Nolensville, Tenn. advanced to the U.S. final of the Little League Baseball World Series with a 7-1 victory before 6,287 at Lamade Stadium.
Pearland finishes its third trip to the series since 2010 as the third-place team out of 10 U.S. bracket entries in the event’s largest field ever. Nolensville moves on to Saturday’s U.S. final where it tries to find a way to avenge Wednesday’s 13-0, four-inning loss to unbeaten Honolulu. Drew Chadwick went the distance for Nolensville, giving up six hits, half of which came on the game’s first four batters. He did not walk a batter while striking out six, including the last two of the game, and throwing 85 pitches.
Pearland led 1-0 after a half inning when Jacob Zurek led off with a double and Kaiden Shelton singled him in on the next pitch.
