Back when it was still universally illegal, “420″ evolved into a code word for smoking marijuana and, now, April 20 is unofficially celebrated as cannabis appreciation day.on Thursday, April 20, with food, drinks and a Grateful Dead cover band from 7 to 11 p.m.; admission is $25.On Friday, April 21, from noon to midnight, the “Very Potent Festival” will feature art, music, food trucks, games, and “celebrity guest appearances” under the bridge at 216 Coles St., Jersey City.
The music starts at noon. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and a special reduced rate for families. As always, all proceeds go to upkeep and improvements at the cemetery, which is supported solely by donations and events like this.Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, and the City of Hoboken will celebrate on Sunday, April 23, with a free outdoor event at 770 Jackson St.
And, so, he’s doing a farewell tour of sorts, starting with a Mint 400 Records showcase on Thursday, April 27, at Jersey City’s Pet Shop, 193 Newark Ave. The show will feature a solo Barrett doing songs from Overlake and Wave, up-and-coming singer-songwriter Jacob Tremont, Those Mockingbirds and the debut of The Make Three, featuring members of New Brunswick’s Anderson Council and North Jersey’s Brixton Riot.On May 5, Tom Barrett & the Cuts will headline at Sip Studios, 140 Sip Ave.
