Opinion: Opposing views on San Diego's effort to overturn Measure C [Opinion]
It didn’t pass: City had ‘no authority’ to thwart voters’ will on Measure C, court rulesIt seemed like common sense to let visitors, not us taxpayers, pay for three important issues — convention center expansion, road repairs and homelessness programs — which a very large portion of voters were in favor of, including me.
Mayor Todd Gloria’s efforts to overturn the defeat of Measure C is no less offensive than Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the presidential election. The citizens were advised before the election that it would take two-thirds of the vote to pass Measure C. It failed. Game over.Changing the rules after the election to overturn the results is an example why so many of us don’t trust politicians at any level.
