London drivers could be eligible for up to £5000 to scrap or retrofit their vehicle as part of Transport for London's new Scrappage Scheme
Transport for London has today announced the introduction of a scrappage scheme wherein applicants could receive up to £5000 to scrap or retro-fit their current vehicle to meet ULEZ emissions standards.
Owners looking to retrofit a non-compliant vehicle will need to invest in catalytic reduction technology to reduce the volume of nitrous oxide being emitted by their car’s exhaust, replace their engine entirely with a Euro 6-compliant motor or convert it to electric power entirely. To qualify for either scheme, those applying must live in a London borough and must not have previously received a grant payment under the previous TfL scrappage scheme, which saw 15,000 older, polluting vehicles taken off the road.
