Service was suspended on the Morris & Essex Line after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a New Jersey Transit train Monday afternoon, the agency said.
The victim, a man, was hit by train 854 on the Morris & Essex Line near the Summit Station at about 1:20 p.m., according to Kyalo Mulumba, senior public information officer for NJ Transit.No injuries were reported among the train crew or the 45 riders who were on board, Mulumba said. Service on the line remained suspended Monday afternoon while the New Jersey Transit Police are on the scene investigating the incident.
