Police in Auburn, Maine, say about $3 million worth of fentanyl was found in a crate shipped to a restaurant in the city. AUBURN, Maine — Workers at a restaurant were expecting a shipment of mugs. What they found in the package that arrived has resulted in a man getting a mug shot.
The crate was addressed to the restaurant under the name of Jeremy Mercier, police say. Mercier is not a worker at the restaurant. Police were called to the restaurant and officers were able to confirm it was fentanyl in the crate. He is now facing charges of aggravated illegal importation of scheduled drugs, aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and violation of conditional release. He is being held without bond in the Androscoggin County Jail.
