A stretch of the M6 and M55 is closed due to a lorry fire - live travel updates
The M6 and M55 have been closed at Preston while emergency services deal with an early morning lorry fire.
The southbound carriage of the M6 is closed between J32 for Preston and J31A for Longridge while the fire is being tackled. Crews were first called to the incident at around 6.15am and traffic was initially held up to allow that response. The road was officially closed around half an hour later and people are being urged to avoid the area and alternative options. Traffic has now also been blocked on the Eastbound M55 as a result of the M6 closure.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports: "M6 Southbound closed, stationary traffic due to lorry fire from J32 M55 to J31A B6242 Bluebell Way . "Traffic remains trapped within the closure since 06:15 with four fire engines on scene. The road closure was put in place at 06:50 with the M55 closing from J1 just before 07:00"
