After gracing the iconic Coronation Street cobbles for almost three years, Lincolnshire actress Harriet Bibby reflects on a year of impactful storylines on the much-loved soap.
In addition to her battle with type 1 diabetes, Harriet was involved in a hardhitting storyline which saw her close friend Amy Barlow being raped.“It’s obviously fantastic to be involved in telling a story which is important to a lot of people,” Harriet said.“This storyline in particular was different because in soaps previously usually one person is the villain, but this was different as Aaron didn’t know he’d made a mistake.

Photo: ITV “I still get comments and thanks about it as not a lot of characters in shows have diabetes,” she said. “It’s been really nice to have people who have diabetes to say ‘you’ve done it well’ and that people understand it better now because of the show.
Harriet said: “We’re in for a tough year as lots of people love Paul’s character and are upset to see it happen. Billy Mayhew is convinced Summer's eating disorder is back. Summer returns home to find Billy, Todd Grimshaw and Paul Foreman waiting for her. Although Harriet has been on Corrie for several years, she still sometimes gets ‘pinch me’ moments on set.
