The president of a Lanarkshire-based Robert Burns club has released a book centred on two Hebridean villages.
The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.After hundreds of years educating children, the school closed in 2012 and the local community decided to get together and buy the building. It reopened in 2021 and was renamed Grinneabhat.
It tells the tale of a century's worth of events, which includes the transformation following the installation of electricity after World War II. Murdo’s wife Hazel said: “I only heard about the plans for the book about a year ago. He had written some of these stories before and decided to collect them together.“The stories in the book, Murdo has lived through them. A lot of them come from his own memory.
