Johnson-Thompson won gold for the first time since 2019
Katarina Johnson-Thompson's former high school are "very proud" after her gold medal in the World Athletics Championships 2023.
The 30-year-old, from Wavertree, put up an impressive performance, scoring 6,740 points, which helped her win the event. The news of Katarina's win has been met with great enthusiasm and celebration across Liverpool.Kate McCourt, acting Headteacher, told the ECHO: “We are delighted to hear about Katarina's latest success on the world stage. To achieve gold in the World Championships after tackling injuries reflects the true grit and determination of Katarina.
“Her resilience, hard work and commitment to her training over the years reflect the amazing woman she has become. In addition to the outpouring of support from her former athletics club, Liverpool Harriers, also congratulated her on her achievement.
