Jonnie Irwin and his wife Jess have opened up about their plans for Christmas as they prepare to spend their last one together as a family following the star's terminal diagnosis
A Place in the Sun host Jonnie Irwin has shared the heartbreaking reality of his cancer diagnosis, as the star and his wife Jess confirmed that this Christmas will be his last.
Opening up about their decision in an interview with the Daily Mail, the couple explained that they wanted to let their children preserve their innocence and “blissful ignorance” for as long as possible, before presenting them with the grim reality of the situation. With time in short supply, however, Jonnie and Jess haven’t let the tragedy of the situation ruin the Christmas magic for them, as they’ve continued to plough on ahead with a truly special day to remember.
Next year, Jess also went on to explain that she will most likely host two separate parties for her son, one for Christmas itself and one for his birthday to help separate the two events. They also plan to celebrate Jonnie’s 50th birthday in the new year with a special party to make the milestone.
