The three incumbents on the Schererville Town Council — two Democrats and one Republican — were holding onto their leads Tuesday night, according to unofficial results.
Democrat Robin Arvanitis, the incumbent in Ward 1, was leading Republican Jennifer Lowry 53% to 46%, Democrat Rob Guetzloff was holding off Republican Jeffrey Minard in Ward 3, 50% to 49%; and Republican Caleb Johnson in Ward 5 was ahead of Democrat Jen Wilson, 52% to 47%, according to the unofficial Election Summary Report. “I just try to do a good job,” Johnson said. “There are no magic bullets.
Arvanitis said she was hopeful to be given a second term by the voters. “I’m motivated by being able to make a difference,” she said. “I feel that in my first term I started so many projects that I would like to continue. I would be really blessed and grateful for another four years.” Guetzloff, having served for the past 24 years, said he hasn’t lost the fire to serve. “I’m humbled by the support I’ve received over the past 24 years,” he said.
