The Chicago Bulls have a young core in need of proper leadership. In this free agency class, there are three names that could help bolster their culture.
As it stands, Carter is heading into his final NBA season. The Bulls can afford to offer him a one-year balloon payment to get him in the fold, as that wouldn't interfere with their future salary cap flexibility. Carter received $8 million from Sacramento two summers ago, then surprisingly signed for the league's minimum with the Hawks last year.
Davis is beloved by numerous players and coaches, including Damian Lillard, Evan Turner, and Kenny Atkinson. Davis would be able to create deep connections with Markkanen, Carter Jr, and Gafford, who could lean him on him for advice and pointers. Curry would immediately help solve Chicago's league-worst shooting from this season, where they canned just 9.1 shots from deep on average, and he'd generally offer a strong dose of offense coming in off the bench, having averaged 9.5 points over his past three playable seasons .
After signing Carter and Davis to somewhat bloated deals, there isn't a lot of money left on Chicago's cap. Except, there might be if they are allowed to remove Omer Asik's contract from their books, which they've applied for given the center's career-ending injury. Clearing that money would open up an additional $3 million in cap space.
