So how do you know if you’ve got a mask with the right fit for your face? Dr. Reza Jarrahy, clinical professor of surgery and pediatrics at UCLA, says when it comes to mask fit, you want a close fit on your face that limits air escape and intake. There should not be large openings or gaps around your nose, mouth and the sides of your face.
Double masking is also still a good idea for many. “Two masks are better than one, and I’m sure there will be a study that says three masks will be better than two, but how far down the rabbit hole are you going to go,” says Dasgupta. And there are other things to think about when you are selecting a mask, too. “It’s important to consider things like who you are, what your immune status is like and whether or not you’ve been vaccinated against the virus.
