A new study finds that vaccines are less effective against the delta variant of coronavirus. The U.K. study, by the University of Oxford, found that there were similar peak levels of virus after two vaccine doses to those in unvaccinated people.

The study also found while two doses of the Pfizer PFE, -2.20% and BioNTech BNTX, -0.62% vaccine had greater initial effectiveness, it declined faster than two doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca AZN, +0.15%, so that after four to five months, the effectiveness was similar. The study drew on the U.K. Office for National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey.
