Higham Ferrers, a historic market town in Northamptonshire, is not included in the top ten places to live in the county according to a recent survey. However, locals believe that it is a very nice place to live with a strong sense of community.
A recent survey by Muddly Stilettos, the UK’s Number 1 women’s lifestyle website and trusted local guide, created a shortlist of the top ten places to live in Northamptonshire . However, the historic market town of Higham Ferrers was not included on this list.
Chris Green, a long-time local resident, said: "My family and I have lived here for forty years and really enjoy it here. We just love the bars, restaurants and cafes.” “It's just very warm and friendly, very community based," she explained. "The local sparkle is on in a few weeks which always brings the community together, everyone gets involved.”
Despite Higham being a small town many of the long-term residents feel that there would be no need to move on because they still have everything that they need just a few minutes’ walk away. Marianne Billing, who has lived in the town for sixteen years said: “I live in the centre of Higham Ferrers and as I don’t drive, I find that I’ve got everything here, all of it’s here.”
