His grandfather Don Kessinger was a 17-year big leaguer, his uncle Keith played briefly in the majors, and his dad Kevin spent time in the minor leagues.
"From a young age, baseball has just been a part of our lives," Kessinger said in front of his locker stall at the Rogers Centre before Monday's game."We talked about it in the car rides and everywhere we went." "I said, 'I'm feeling pretty good.' And he said, 'Pretty good? What if Dusty needed you in Toronto?,' Kessinger recounted.
"I’ve played a little bit of everywhere so far this season," Kessinger said."Wherever they want me. Let’s just win games."
