Storm Babet continues to batter large parts of Scotland this morning with red, amber and yellow weather warnings in place across the country.
While a yellow warning for rain was in place yesterday, this has since been lifted and there are currently no Met Office weather warnings in place for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area. The forecast reads: "Cloudy with rain at times, though more especially through the morning. Rain most persistent across the east, with drier and possibly brighter weather across Ayrshire and Argyll. Windy with strong easterly winds and gales over some coasts and hills. Maximum temperature 11C."
The 57-year-old woman was swept away at the Water of Lee, Glen Esk, just before 2pm on Thursday. Efforts were made to convince residents of Brechin, Angus, to evacuate 400 homes, with the coastguard and fire crews going door-to-door after some people refused to leave.
