The meteor shower is set to peak this evening
Scots are set to see a spectacular sight in the skies as the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is expected to peak within hours.
According to the Royal Museums Greenwich , a leading group of space research facilities in the UK, the spectacular will be most visible on Saturday and Sunday - May 6 and May 7. The space debris making up the shower will speed through Earth's night sky at speeds of up to 70 kilometres per second causing streaks of light that some may be lucky enough to spot.
The shower gets its name from the Aquarius constellation. This is the part of the sky where the spectacular will be most visible with one star within it named Eta Aquarii.
