this recipe saved my boyfriend's insistence on not doing anything for his birthday and made the night super special. all in all over the course of a day i managed to do small parts of this and it was the most rewarding thing to see his face when he looked at the swoops on the icing. thank youThis is my first time ever making anything form scratch and it was a really easy recipe to follow. My family is really not into overly sweet cakes and this one was just perfect.

Highly recommend making it!Very tasty cake and super easy to make The cake has a really nice chocolate flavour and is not too sweet. It was moist and had a nice crumb. I love that I can pre-make the dry mix and add the liquid later. I might sub the oil for brown butter for a nice nutty flavour.Chris does it again! Soooo yummy.
