Stafford scored the opening goal, but the Greyhounds were able to seize the momentum back and tallied seven unanswered goals of their own en route to the victory. Stafford navigated a tough postseason road to reach Georgetown under longtime head coach Ruben Perez. The Spartans were the District 24-4A champions with a 12-1-1 record and beat Washington, Huffman-Hargrave, Scarborough, Mexia and Salado in the first five rounds of the playoffs.
Boerne entered the day averaging six goals per game during the playoffs. The Greyhounds have won 18 consecutive contests and have not lost since Jan. 8 against Alamo Heights.
