The fencing which had only been erected yesterday is being torn down and replaced today

Blundering council chiefs have been forced to tear down fencing surrounding the Station Hotel after they mistakenly appeared with demolition signs - sparking fears the building was about to come down.

The fencing carried a sign which read "Demolition Works in Progress", sending social media into overdrive with residents believing the iconic hotel was set to be imminently flattened. Ayrshire Live can now reveal that council chiefs are racing to remove the fencing which was "sourced from elsewhere", and put their own fences up.
