Fire crews still at the scene of the Station Hotel are on weather watch tonight – as Storm Agnes batters Ayr.Firefighters have remained at the scene today as they continue to dampen down the charred building.
It comes after Monday’s blaze which continued to burn for more than 24 hours. Now fire chiefs insist they will closely monitor the weather warning which has been placed across Scotland.The Station Hotel was previously deemed structurally unsafe before the inferno ripped through the relic on Monday evening.
Previously high winds have battered the historic hotel leading to holes appearing in the white protective sheeting draped over the building. A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “As part of our ongoing response to this incident, we will continue to monitor the weather warning in place across Scotland.A Council spokesperson said: “The fire at the former Ayr Station Hotel is an ongoing incident and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland remain on the scene.
