Carthage coach wins a record ninth state football title
University Interscholastic LeagueSurratt tied Gordon Wood and Jerry Burkhart for the most state championship wins for a coach in UIL history, picking up No. 9 on Friday afternoon with a 42-0 victory over Wimberly in the Class 4A Division II title game.
Carthage dominated from start to finish Thursday, racing out to a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 35-0 advantage by halftime.
