But some of it was the receivers’ inability to make plays down the field.“There is a balance of how much calculated are you to the risk of it, to stay ahead of the chains,” said offensive coordinator.
Duke has allowed just three pass plays of 20 yards through four games, second nationally to Marshall. The Blue Devils are the only team in the country yet to give up a 30-yard pass play. It all makes Saturday night a tough ask for Hartman in terms of getting the deep ball working again. Notre Dame has the quarterback to snap back into form in the downfield passing game. It’s just not clear if it has the receivers, too.If Notre Dame can get over how last week ended, it may realize what it discovered against Ohio State when the offensive line found a different gear in a moment when the program absolutely needed it.
