Dallas-based Buff City Soap is opening two more stores, saying it’s trying to keep up with local demand for its soap-making experience and its products, which it markets as alternatives to commercial soaps.
The new Plano store at 2396 Preston Road will open on April 8 in space that was formerly a Jos. A. Bank on the northeast corner of Preston and West Park Blvd. The four corners were West Plano’s original shopping district and are still a shopping destination with Trader Joe’s, Nordstrom Rack, Williams-Sonoma and Whole Foods Market among the dozens of stores and restaurants at Preston and Park.
The new Casa Linda and Plano stores are corporate-owned and -operated. Most of the company’s stores are franchise locations. The retailer now has 195 stores in 29 states, up from 35 stores in 11 states two years ago. Buff City says its plant-based handmade products leave out the harsh chemicals, detergents, animal fats and sulfates that are widely used in soaps and shampoos. Customers can watch soaps being made and participate in the process by customizing their products from the 30 available scents with clever names such as Breathe, Ferocious Beast, Narcissist and All Hail the Queen. Products include soap bars, bath bombs, foaming hand soap, moisturizers and laundry detergent.
