After a leap year proposal to her partner, Jacqui Anderson set out on a mission to lose weight - vowing not to look like a 'fat fairy' on her wedding day. The former driving instructor faced a difficult challenge when she used to constantly fill up at petrol stations for fuel - the shelves laden with snacks and chocolate treats to tempt anyone with a sweet tooth.
"I got into my dress fine," said Jacqui, who attends a slimming group on Monday nights in Keyworth Methodist Church in Selby Lane. "We left it quite late getting the dress. When I bought it, it was a bit tight, but it fitted perfectly on the day." She is now a supply teacher and gardens for people in the village. She has said goodbye to working long hours, stress, sitting in the passenger seat all the time as a driving instructor, and not getting much exercise.
"My weight loss journey was around the houses - up and down, and up and down - but I got there in the end! It took me a year to lose 16lbs. If I had done it really quickly, I don't think I would have maintained it".
